You might be thinking about lighting a fire and putting on a sweater,
and resting up from the Holidays. But now is the time to get going
for April, May and June with The Gift List for Spring 2009.
Don't let this season pass you by!

Gift List Media proudly partners with adVance Public Relations to create NewProductEvents.

Once you've met a journalist in person, you have that relationship forever. It is the best investment you can make in your publicity campaign.

These events are for the media-only. No retail buyers, no ad departments. Strictly editorial.
All events are non-competitive. If there is any question as to whether or not a prospective exhibitor is one of your competitors, you will be consulted. So, registering your product category early is always to your advantage!

Journalists love our events because we attract the hottest, most exciting new products on the market. We also provide them with an exceptional online media page on each of our exhibitors. This media page contains all your contact information, product photography and descriptions and more. Plus, we serve them a delicious lunch!

Why are media events important?
Small, media-only events provide an avenue for consumer product companies to engage in face to face interaction with top consumer, trade, broadcast and newspaper editors in charge of selecting new products for their publications. Attending media events is an integral part of building relationships with new products editors.

No other venue offers the opportunity to speak one-on-one with this volume of journalists so conveniently and cost-effectively.

Why do journalists attend?
Journalists who write about new consumer trends are always interested in the newest products. Attending a media event such as this affords them the opportunity to discover products they may never find otherwise.

With only 50-60 exhibitors, this is not an all day event for the media. Within a few hours conveniently scheduled over lunch, they have time to stop and ask questions about any of the products that peak their interest.

What kinds of products are the journalists seeking?
Our media events focus on lifestyle reporting.

We invite journalists who are seeking interesting and innovative products in a wide variety of categories, such as bath and beauty, fashion and accessories, tech and gadgets, health and fitness products, foods and kitchen tools, pets, children and parenting, travel gear, and home décor.

What is the style of the event?
The environment is casual and spacious. You will not be dwarfed by huge over-sized displays or crammed into a dark corner. The room is open, and the tables are arranged to make it easy for the editors to flow through the room at a comfortable pace. Photos and additional information are viewable here.

What should I bring?
In keeping with a relaxed atmosphere, heavy-duty trade show booths are not needed! In addition to yourself, and possibly a colleague, all you need are product samples to demonstrate and distribute.

What is provided during the event?
In addition to the beautiful hotel setting, snacks and a welcome gift bag to all the exhibitors, you will have:

  • A large skirted tabletop in open view of the whole room.
  • Internet access provided by the hotel's wireless connection.
  • Attendants available to assist you with whatever you need.
  • And, of course, the media themselves!

For the media, in addition to a tasty lunch-on-the-go, the media attendees will receive:

  • A tote bag to carry samples and information.
  • A printed directory with company names and product listings.
  • Access to a one-of-kind interactive website for the media who attend our events. (Read on for more details on this exceptional service!)

Will I need to bring stacks of printed materials to handout?
Feel free to leave those heavy press kits at the office. Bring only the print collateral you know will enhance the live experience of the event.

Every exhibitor will have a dedicated page on this site containing your contact information, links to your website and/or online media kit, product descriptions, and images.

Knowing they can easily retrieve your contact information from the site, allows the media to focus on you and your product while at the event. The site also has many special features, such as forwarding product information to fellow journalists.

The site is dark until 3pm on the day of the event, so as not to steal the thunder of the actual event.

How do journalists find out about the event?
If there's one thing that Gift List Media knows, it's how to reach journalists. We are the only media list company who promises that nobody is listed on our databases unless we have spoken to them personally. We have an unparalleled reputation with the media for accuracy.

We are not blasting emails at random to wildly inappropriate contacts. We use The Gift List databases as the foundation for our invitations, and build on that based on our extensive familiarity and network of contacts with the industry.

We approach the media through various methods and require RSVP's to ensure they are good match for the focus of the event.

How can I follow-up with a journalist after the event.
You will be given an electronic media contact directory for easy follow-up after the event. This directory will be exclusively distributed to the exhibitors, and not made available to the general public.
